Does music make you dumb or do dumb people just like dumb music? There's something called 'The Mozart Factor'. It's the idea that playing classical music for a young child mentally stimulates them in a way that... well would make them smarter. California Tech PhD student Virgil Griffith is behind a study to test that theory called 'Music That Makes You Dumb'. Griffith took a sample of students, cross-referenced their SAT scores with music they like to listen to, and what did he find? The smart kids like Beethoven and the, let's just say not so bright kids like Lil' Wayne.

I'm not quite sure how scientific this study was, especially for someone going for their Doctorate, or how honest the title is because I couldn't quite find the link to how music effects your intelligence. Maybe he was trying to prove/disprove the old stereotype that smart people listen to classical music and dumb people don't, but it doesn't show that the music in fact made them smarter. All it showed is that's what they listen to. At the other end, it showed that students with the lower scores like rap-pop but I can't disagree with the results. You gotta be a dumbfuck to like Lil' Wayne.
