I think I've been watching sports too much lately cause I had no idea the Grammys were tonight. I don't mean I forgot or it slipped my mind, I mean no idea. I don't remember seeing a commercial, talking about it with a friend, hearing someone on the radio talk about it, nothing! There wasn't even a football game (ProBowl and Senior Bowl don't count) that was distracting me from remembering or paying attention. Now I'm not big on award shows and I can't remember the last one I sat through, but I'm usually aware they're on. Like the Golden Globes a couple weeks ago, I had zero interest in watching it and didn't, but I knew when it was on, who was hosting, and for the most part who was nominated. I've heard zip about the Grammys. Not about nominees, who's favoured, who's being honoured, or even who's hosting. As someone who is as big of a fan of music as I am, I think I should feel a little embarrassed but I don't. Maybe because year after year the people who award Grammys show how out of touch they are. Maybe because it's been watered down with so many categories and so many other award shows that it's not a big deal to win one. Or maybe it's because it's just 5 hours (including the red carpet) of seeing what celebrities are wearing, and who they're with, and how they'll react, and who they'll thank and won't thank, and what will the host say, and will it be controversial, and will Chris Brown beat-up his date, and will rapper get stabbed, and... And maybe that's why I don't give a shit.
