No Fedor like originally thought (and hoped) but three title bouts and it’s on free TV, not too shabby!

In the main event we’ll see Dan Henderson make his Strikeforce debut against Middleweight Champion Jake Shields. Size-wise they're pretty similar, but Henderson's used to bigger competition. “Hendo’s” been a champion at 185 (well, technically 183) and 205 in Pride and also had title shots/unification bouts in both divisions when he was in the UFC while aside from being the Strikeforce 185 Champ, Shields was also EliteXC's (remember them?) only welterweight title holder. Henderson in an Olympic wrestler and has hands made of adamantium (just ask Wanderlei and Michael Bisping… if they can remember) while Shields has good (not great) wrestling and standup but superior Jiu-Jitsu. You can’t count Shields out… unless his face meets “Hendo’s” fist, then start counting.

The co-main event will see Gegard Mousasi put his Light Heavyweight title on the line against Muhammed Lawal. This is Mousasi’s first title defense (even though he’s fought twice since steamrolling Babalu last August) and “King Mo” is coming off smashing Mike Whitehead in his Strikeforce debut at Evolution last December. Mousasi has spectacular standup with good submissions while “King Mo” is an NCAA Division II Champion wrestler with heavy hands. It’s scheduled for five rounds, but don’t expect it to get past the second.

In the co-co-main event, Strikeforce Lightweight Champion Gilbert “El Niño” Melendez takes on Dream Lightweight Champion Shinya Aoki. Until this past Saturday, many considered Aoki the second best lightweight in the world but with BJ losing to Frankie Edgar and Aoki fighting in for the first time in a cage under North American rules, we could see more shuffling in the lightweight rankings.

Looks like a very good card on paper but so did UFC 112. The difference is, this is free! Strikeforce: Nashville is live (kind of) this Saturday on CBS. If you’ve got yourself a more premium cable/satellite package you can watch it at 6pm. If your cable’s more basic, it’ll start at 9pm.
