UFC 115 is a week away (yowza that’s quick!) and you might be wondering were you could watch this thing. Well, there are several options.

There’s always the good ol’fashion watch it at home on pay-per-view. It’ll be $60 for HD and $50 for non-HD (but why would you do that to your eyes). That price comes down quit a bit if you invite some buddies over but make sure they pay their cut early otherwise some people tend to forget after a couple of pops and you’ll be on the hook for an extra $50-60 on your cable bill not to mention you probably put the pizza in your Visa and bought chips and some beers for everyone, too. Conversely, if you’re going to a buddy’s place, make sure they get paid and paid at a point in the evening that he or she will remember you paid them. Otherwise they may think you didn’t pay them and it could get awkward next time or worse, there is no next time.

Another go-to is watching it at the pub. Depending on which pub you go to, you may be paying a $5-10 cover kind of like at your buddy’s place except there’s a bouncer who makes you pay. The rule of thumb for me is that if it’s in downtown you’re paying cover, if you’re not in downtown you’re probably not paying cover. There are some exceptions to that, so it’s best to call and ask and also make sure you show up early. Don’t think you can stroll in at 6:58 and get a good seat, or a seat at all for that matter.

If you don’t like to drink, you’re too young to drink, or your kid is too young to drink and your buddy’s 50” HDTV isn’t quit big enough or you don’t have a buddy with a giant HDTV, give Cineplex a try. SilverCity Riverport (Richmond), Coquitlam, and Colossus Langley are all showing it. I’ve never actually watched a UFC event at a movie theatre but I watched a Wrestlemania once and I think a SummerSlam, too, and it was pretty wicked watching them on a ginormus screen. Not sure how early you should get there but at least half-an-hour to 45-minutes wouldn’t hurt.

But these are options for any UFC pay-per-view. This is one here and the best place to watch it would be in GM Place. You may think it might be a little tough to get tickets considering it sold out 30-minutes into the pre-sale and two days before the general public even had a chance to buy tickets but there are still ways of getting in. I know of a couple people who bought too many tickets and are trying to unload a pair. Ask around, make it you Facebook status; you also probably have a friend or two who bought too many tickets. The internet is another option. StubHub and CraigsList still have a ton of tickets available, just use some caution. If a price looks too good to be true, it is. And I said it in a previous blog and I’ll say it again, you could also go to your local video store and pick yourself up a copy of Detroit Rock City. Besides it being full of hilarity, you could take some pointers from the four young lads trying to get they’re way into a KISS concert, though don’t try what Trip tried (James DeBello’s character). That’ll probably get you in jail… like for a long time.
